Sibling Story

October 21, 2009

Brotherhood KingdomAs much as I wanted Liya to accept Ajib about  3 1/2years ago, my youngest sister has also experienced the drill. The big bro Aiman must come to terms to welcome the new baby’s arrival, Adam into the realm of the family.

The vision that the two boys – Aiman and Adam would become buddies many years to come has been very enlightening. They grow fonder towards each other everyday. Each coo and peek-a-boo just strengthens the newly developed bonding. Finally, Aiman would love Adam so dearly, that is preferably more than his mega collection of Ultraman and Transformers.

It is for fact that younger siblings tend to look up the older siblings for approval, knowledge and wisdom. For instance, Ajib is continuously seeking Liya’s company and assistance. I was laughing out loud when the two of them began dancing in sync to Hindi’s Rab ne bana di jodi and singing to perform a ‘mini rock ‘n’ roll concert with Barbie’s guitar  and mic we had bought from Toys ‘R’ Us in Kuala Lumpur. They have also worked hard to make sandcastles on the beach and ice-cream using the handy ice-cream maker toy set.

Juicy Love

Awesome Michelin BabyI never doubted for a second my ability to breastfeed my babies, Liya and Ajib. Started with colostrum,  the milk secreted naturally. Confinement diet is important for energy and good quality and supply of milk.

When I actually resumed full-time job after giving birth to Ajib, I continued expressing milk and maintained the supply. Besides being healthy, Ajib was nicknamed Michelin, owing credit to the Michelin tyre’s logo (left photo for comparison). He was the talk in town..firstly, the miracle of what breast milk can do and secondly, how we have raised an adorable Michelin baby.

The breast milk changed its texture to suit the baby’s requirement at around 4 months. It was a special moment,  miraculous bonding. Even during traveling, breastfeeding continued without much trouble.

Night Vultures

Somehow it feels like a curse. Both Ajib and Liya have nightmares. Liya stopped having nightmares, screaming in the middle of the night until before 30months. Unfortunately, Ajib still has to pull through at 38months. At first, I thought this could be they have lots to share and unable to express themselves. Could be true for Liya. The moment she could construct a full sentence, no more waking up crying, sobbing, struggling and searching for something.

I guess Ajib needs more time. Maybe while all learning being transferred to long term memory, flashes of them become nightmares for Ajib. Boys develope their speech at a slower rate compared to girls.

Baby, please don’t cry…

Kids are good actors without their knowing. They can look pretty and be a cutie pie. Ever encounter a screaming toddler when you want to go to work, groceries, car workshop, etc?

Ajib and I just watched Nick Jr channel showing Mommy fish and Baby fish saying goodbye. I persuaded him that each goodbye is temporary. Mommy fish sings “wherever I go,whatever I do, I’ll always come back to you..” That’s very comforting.
