Clan’ism’

October 9, 2009

Oh my God!“Ouch,” Ajib exclaimed while rubbing his bottom. The whole group was amused and laughed at him. I quickly tried to persuade that laughing at someone is not nice as the person has already been in pain and humiliated.

Indeed, social acceptance begins with a small group consists of a few people. The members can be siblings, cousins, friends or strangers. Ajib got up and acted as if nothing has happened.

Girls & Hairdo

October 5, 2009

Look alikeLook alike is always part of a group’s ritual so each member feels a sense of belonging. Plus, it is an advantage to be seen ‘mirroring’ each other, noticeable to others.

Mass media has been an influential source in our society. The ‘Fasha’ hairstyling was chosen last weekend. Who knows who will be the icon for next weekend onwards? Barbie, Hannah Montana, Lady Gaga…the list goes on.

Yup, it was time consuming to braid each girl’s locks but the bonding was developed. Attention was given and time exchanged. Appreciate every seconds with a child because she or he will grow up. Really fast!  Hopefully, moments braiding hair and caressing each others’ palms would be memorable and would hold some significance in our lives and the girls’ too.

Goin’ Shopping

August 30, 2009

GIRLS Everyone is crazy about shopping. My husband and I decided we must bring Ajib and Liya to get some new clothes. Gosh, kids grow extremely fast.

Liya walked along the aisles and looking for designs. Size comes later, so I thought. Since this was delayed gratification, I played along. We actually had promised to take her to her favourite store a few months back. We were lucky because the salesgirl was very patient and helpful.

Liya tried many t-shirts, skirts and pants. I refrained myself from being judgmental except for technical basis only like being comfy and decent. She started off with low self-esteem to a bit higher when we were in the dressing room.

We took a break after for a while before taking another shot at finding Ajib’s new clothes. Ajib by then was excited and said repeatedly, “Sis, you bought so many..”Poney

Daddy played a bigger role managing a 3-year old boy. In the store, we were tempted to tryout the combination displayed which were worn by the little mannequins. In between each outfit, Ajib came out and ran within the store. He even said something to little shoppers and to the salesgirls.

Ajib was a proud shopper. He handled his own shopping bag and seemed so satisfied.
