RECIPE 1
Snacking healthily with delicious cooked oats. You may try the recipe below:
Ingredients
- 1 cup of uncooked oats
- 3 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of pitted prunes (sliced)
- 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey
- 1 cup of apple juice
Cooking method:
- Mix oats and water
- Bring mixture to boil (probably about 5 minutes on high temperature)
- Add sliced prunes
- Before removing the fire, add honey and apple juice. Mix well.
RECIPE 2
BOBOTIE OR BEEF PIE (SOUTH AFRICA)
The the appetizer:
South African cuisine has changed from indigenous dependence on wild game, cattle and gathering of foods from the wild, to farming, and cooking styles brought by colonists from Netherlands, Germany France and Britain, as well as immigrants from India. Traditional “Cape Dutch” cookery mixes European cooking with spices like nutmeg, allspice and hot peppers, brought to South Africa from India and Southeast Asia.
2 ounces butter
1 cup onions, thinly sliced
1 apple, peeled, diced
2 pounds chopped cooked beef
2 bread slices soaked in milk
2 tablespoons curry powder
1/2 cup raisins
2 tablespoons slivered almonds
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
6 bay leaves
1 egg
1/2 cup whole milk
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the onions and sauté for 5 minutes, then add the apple dice and cook for another minute. Add the chopped beef and combine. Squeeze out the excess milk from the bread slices, then tear up and add to pot. Add the curry powder, raisins, almonds, lemon juice, egg, and turmeric, and stir well.
Place mixture in a greased 9 x 13″ baking dish. Place bay leaves vertically in the casserole. Bake at 325 degrees F for 40 minutes, then remove from the oven. Mix together the egg and milk, then pour it over the Bobotie. Bake for 15 more minutes. Remove bay leaves before serving.
Recipe 3 Honey Milo Cookies
1 cup wheat flour, 3 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp granulated sugar, 1/2 cup Nestle’s fresh milk Milo, 2 tbsp Hershey’s chocolate syrup, 1 egg, 5 tbsp honey, 1/2 cup chocolate chips

TERRIFIC BATTER
Nenek sent to us some cempedak. I have been confused with jackfruit. Anyways, we had no wheat flour left. Outside it was raining so I changed my mind and refused to take Liya and Ajib for a quick spin to the grocery store.
We decided to use the cake mix (Tepung Kek). ‘Voila’ The batter was great. Cempedak fritters or deep-fried cempedak were gone in seconds..
Recipe 5 Cheesy Chicken Quiche
Crust:
175gm plain flour
100gm butter
2 x 15ml cold water
Topping & Sauce:
Broccoli – cut
3 Chicken with cheese slices – cut
2 Chicken with onion slices – cut
11 button mushroom – sliced
1/2 carrot – grated
2 eggs – beaten
165ml milk
salt & pepper
seasoning
Cooking method:
Prepare the crust by making breadcrumb-like from butter and flour. Add water to make a dough. Rest in fridge for 15minutes.
Meanwhile, saute mushrooms and then add broccoli for a few minutes.
Roll the cooled dough and bake for 10 minutes at 200C covered with wax paper.Remove paper and bake another 10 minutes. Arrange all veggie and chicken slices on top of crust before adding the mixture of milk and eggs. Bake for 20 minutes at 175C.
Recipe 6 Hamburger Pizza
Crust: 9″ pizza base available at supermarkets
Toppings:
7 pcs button mushrooms – sliced
2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
4 tablespoons of tomato ketchup
1/2 cup of sliced green olives
1/2 cup of sliced yellow onions
2 chicken slices – cut in squares
2 patties of thawed meat burger
HOW TO:
1. Mesh thawed meat burger
2. Spread tomato ketchup over the pizza base
3. Arrange toppings. The burger would give very contrasting color and mozzarella cheese must be the last to cover other toppings.
4. Bake in the oven at 175C for 15-20 minutes.
